New release, “It’s All About” with Giom remix, coming soon!

August 19th, 2010

Early October with bring my House on the Hill’s fourth release! My original track “It’s All About” featuring Orange County, CA based vocalist Alexandra Lojek, will be paired up with remixes by Giom and Laron aka Swan. Giom, based in London, has been one of the top remixers of the last few years and I’m stoked to have him on my label. His remix of Vernon & Dacosta’s “As Darkness Falls” is arguably one of the biggest Underground House cuts of 2007. His first solo EP, “People Ep” was then released in July 2007 on San Francisco’s Motion Music and quickly went to number 1 at both Primal Records and Juno Records best sellers chart that went to number 2 of the Stompy.com top 100 download chart. More recently, both his “Stolen Soul EP” and his remix of NU-Soul singer Natalie Williams (U Don’t Know – Aroma Recordings) topped the Juno Records’ House chart, as well as both being licensed to various compilations, such as Olivier Desmet & Inland Knights ‘ San Francisco Sessions on Om Records, and Mark Farina’s brand new Fabric 40 Mix CD. For this release, expect a slighter harder sound than you might associate with Giom.

Laron aka Swan is a longtime San Francisco DJ and producer, now based in Chicago. His tracks have appeared on labels such as Classic, Sunburn, Bounce House, and many others. His production feature high energy beats with funky bass lines. His remix features a chugging acid line with deep pads and hard hitting vocals.

Finally, my original mix. Alongside a driving electric bass and thick kick bass, a wah wah Rhodes and Alexandra’s soaring vocals trade off throughout, constantly evolving in new directions throughout the track.

Pre-release on Stompy in early October. More info soon!

New mix, “Open Up” available as free download!

Open Up

Recorded June 2010

It’s a bit long since my last mix, but the wait has been worth it! “Open Up” maintains a focus solidly on house, yet still ebbs and flows between different moods, grooves, and energies while never getting too hard or dark. Featuring my new productions “Another Day” and “It’s All About” fresh from the studio!

1) Sung Zvin Featuring an appealing live electric bass and guitar effects in the midst of dueling keys. You’ll also find ominous vocal samples and a particularly nasty slap bass climax. It’s totally got the sound of classic dubby & tribal San Francisco house.

2) View From Within Driven by a bouncy ska-like rhythm and tribal drums. Twisted melodic guitar lines and a powerful lead synth trade off as ethereal female vocals echo in the background.

Upcoming events and Burning Man news

I’ve got a couple great events coming down the line and I’ll have more info closer to the dates.

On Thursday August 19th, I’ll be playing alongside Green Gorilla Lounge at the California Academy of Sciences Nightlife party! Who says a museum can’t be a great club and bar? With M3, Anthony Mansfield, Sharon Buck.

I’ll be hosting an intimate underground party on September 17th in SF. Lineup TBA.

Finally, after many years of providing the best house music at Burning Man, my camp Green Gorilla Lounge made its final appearance last year. I was happy be a part of it for the last five years and am pleased to announce that several of the key members have joined together to form Disco Knights. We’re bringing back our old dome and massive sound system to the playa to bring you more great music from our camp residents and special guest DJs. Look for us at 10 o’clock and Detroit!

June 29th at Triple Crown – Taco Tuesday Happy Hour

I’ll be the guest DJ at the long running Taco Tuesday happy hour. I’ve got tons of great jams never before played in public!

“Your host, COLE, will bring it from 5:30 to 10, with a different superstar DJ guest every week (local or imported)…. We’ll start with more subtle tunes, and as the drinks flow, move toward the dance-floor jams. It’s a great opportunity for your fave DJs to play the tunes they love, but can’t fit into a dance floor at 2am…

We feature drink specials, and amazing $2 tacos (served 5:30-9:30). Come out and have fun! Good Tunes+Good Peeps+Good Drinks+Good Eats= GREAT TIMES!”
